In Cheju for 35th KCCI Economics Forum

I’m currently at the Lotte Hotel in Cheju for the KCCI 35th Economics Forum and will not be able to update as much. The KCCI Economics Forum is a gathering of CEO’s and chairmen from across South Korea. Yesterday, I attended lectures by Nobel Laureate Finn E. Kydland and Korean Prime Minister Chung Un-Chan. Nobel Laurate Kyland gave a lecture on the effects of good and bad economic policies and the Korean Prime Minister gave a great speech on creativity and the need to abolish Korea’s judgemental bias based on academic backgrounds (something I completely agree with).

This is a 4-day forum but after this I would like to attend the World Knowledge Forum. The World Knowledge Forum will be held at the Sheraton Walker Hill W Hotel in Seoul, South Korea. Last year, the event had guests like George W. Bush, Paul Krugman, Nassim Nicholas Taleb, Jim Rogers and Jack Welch. This year, the event will have the following attendees and more:

  • Nuriel Roubini, Professor of Economics at NYU Stern and Chairman of Roubini Global Economics
  • Sir Richard Branson, CEO of Virgin
  • Hans Vestberg, Chairman of Ericcson
  • Michele Norsa, CEO of Ferragamo
  • Michael Rake, Chairman of British Telecom (BT)
  • John W. Chidsey, Chairman and CEO of Burger King
  • Didier Lombard, Chairman and CEO of France Telecom
  • Anand Mahindra, Vice Chairman of Mahindra
